Important Information
Rating Reason
Several consumers have reported to the BBB that they were told by company salespeople they could purchase and donate magazines to a Children's Hospital or to the troops serving overseas. On March 17, 2011 the BBB contacted Nation's Top Sales and asked them to provide contact information that would allow the BBB to verify with a Children's Hospital and the coordinator of programs to send items to our military serving overseas that magazines were received. In a response received from Tracy Turner, Office Manager of Nation's Top Sales on March 21, 2011, the company stated: "We cannot provide contact information because we have no contacts in the manner which you describe. We use Anysoldier.com to obtain addresses of soldiers stationed overseas. We are allowed two addresses per day and ten per month. We look for three main things when choosing a soldier, those who have had few requests because we want to send them to soldiers who may not be receiving much from others, those who are deployed for as long as possible so they can receive a full subscription and those who request magazines or reading materials specifically. Another point to note is that each soldier represents a number of other soldiers and this information is provided along with how many are male and how many are female. Donations to hospitals are selected at random, usually in the area where the donations were made but this is not always the case. The procedure we use to process donations is as follows: The number of donations on any given day varies greatly. For each day of orders, the donations are separated and counted. We tend to get multiple donations for the same magazine and, obviously, we send that magazine. But we do not think any soldier or hospital would appreciate getting ten copies of the same magazine so we send a variety of appropriate magazines and/or send multiple-year subscriptions for those magazines. Customers wishing to verify their donation can do so by calling our office. As with all other office procedures over the past year, we are working to streamline these procedures in order to provide better customer service." Since the BBB has not been provided with the requested detailed information, our organization is currently unable to verify that subscription donations have been received by any Children's Hospital or any members of the military serving overseas.
