Compliance Order
On August 26, 2019 Consumer Protection BC issued a compliance order and penalty to Prime Cremation Services Inc.
It was found that the contracts used did not conform to the requirements outlined in the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BPCPA).
Section 34 (1) of the BPCPA requires that funeral services contracts contain:
(a) the information referred to in section 19
(b) […]
(c) the address where the human remains will be sheltered pending disposition
The disclosures found in section 19, incorporated above as a requirement of funeral contracts
include:
(b) the supplier's business address and, if different, the supplier's mailing address
The contraventions have been corrected.
Prime Cremation Services Inc haas been ordered to pay a $3000.00 administrative Penalty and $600.00 as reimbursement of Consumer Protection BC’s costs.
